ATM Placement Agreements: What’s in the Contract (and What to Watch For)

Written by the myFloridaATM.com install team — Winter Park-based, ATM-only techs with 10 years and 75+ installs across Central Florida. Last updated October 13, 2026.

What is in an ATM placement agreement?

Short answer: An ATM placement agreement sets out who owns the machine, who loads cash, how your commission is calculated, how long the term lasts, renewal and cancellation conditions, service responsibilities, and what happens at the end. Read every one of these before signing. This is general information, not legal advice.

The Central Florida Angle

Most of the problem contracts we see in Central Florida came from out-of-state providers who signed stores up and then disappeared. Before you sign:

  • Ask who you call when the machine goes down — and whether they have a tech in your county.
  • Get the commission as a number, not “competitive.”
  • Read the auto-renewal clause twice.

Is a verbal promise from an ATM rep enforceable?

Don’t rely on it. If it matters, get it written into the agreement.

Key Terms to Understand

Red Flags

  • Renewal terms longer than the original term
  • Fees for removing a machine the provider isn’t servicing
  • No written repair commitment
  • Vague or missing commission
  • Exclusivity that blocks other ATMs without benefit to you
