ATM Insurance: What Florida ATM Owners Need to Know

Do I need insurance for my ATM?
Short answer: If you own an ATM or load its cash, you should check that your insurance covers the machine, the cash inside it and liability. Many standard business policies do not cover cash in an ATM without a specific rider. Ask your agent about equipment, cash, theft, storm damage and liability coverage. This is general information, not insurance advice.
The Central Florida Angle
Florida-specific insurance points:
- Windstorm and flood coverage are often separate from a standard business policy in Florida.
- Ask whether cash in the ATM is covered if the store is closed for a storm.
- Keep photos of the ATM and its serial number for claims.
Does my landlord’s insurance cover the ATM?
Usually not. Landlord policies cover the building, not your equipment or cash.
Coverage to Ask About

| Storm / flood | Hurricane and water damage (often separate) |
Who Insures What?
